Did You Know?

Scroll through the photos.

1924 Stutz Fire Truck

Did you know that two people in the extended family, a Burnett and a Dillon, were fire chiefs in Hillsboro Fire Department at one time?

Wilbur Dillon, Grandpa Dillon's brother, was the Fire Chief way back when. He was born in 1896 and died in 1960. I have asked Hillsboro Fire Department for the years he served. I heard back from Hillsboro Fire. Wilbur Dillon was the first paid fireman in the department. He started working there in 1924. He became the Fire Chief in 1935 and retired in 1957.

And, on the Burnett side, Michael Burnett, Uncle Bob's son, was the Fire Chief at Hillsboro before he went to Wenatchee, Washington, where he is currently the Fire Chief. Hillsboro Fire Dept. replied that Michael worked his way through the ranks and became Operations Chief. They gave me a number to call to find out the exact dates but I didn't call. It was "recently" - compared to Wilbur, that is!

That's all for today. I'm not feeling up to par. But, tomorrow is another day!

Ta ta for now,
